The action is heating up both in real life and in the game Towerbound. Now that Ren's friends know about his future knowledge they're determined to get out the word that a new apocalypse is coming. Ren hates politics but he not only has to deal with the very angry dragon council in game but gets elected D1's representative and finds himself pitted against Victor who is now D10's representative on the district council. Victor and other groups are making more moves against D1 in an attempt to keep control but they find the Scrap Rats are ready for them. They fight back against politics and hired gangs by increasing their economic influence and allying with other poorer districts. As strange events begin happening in real life and Towerbound is rushing towards the endgame mechanics smaller characters are getting more PoV time and development.
Thanks to Ren's manipulating of events new game mechanics are appearing much faster than in his first life. Now there are rampaging dragons and more involvement from NPCs in the capitol. The Scrap Rats are starting to wonder just how autonomous the NPCs actually are and if it means anything. But mostly they just manipulate them into persecuting Prosperous Guild which causes Victor problems with the board of directors. The Scrap Rats now have enough people and levels to be taken seriously by other guilds, or would if not for the guild name typo. But with more dungeons opening Mira's primary goal is to find a name change token. Especially after they get a corporate sponsor who definitely doesn't want a name change but that running joke is better read than explained.
Things are also changing dramatically in the real world. The Scrap Rats are prosperous and taking in all those who need help or protection. This inevitably leads to spies getting in but there isn't a whole lot for them to manipulate since the primary selling point of joining the guild is three basic meals every day as long as you contribute. They also undermine the power districts by establishing their own currency of guild credits. While taking care of orphans, addicts, and struggling shopkeepers they're also training up their own military and making forays out into the Deadlands for training. Ren finds it increasingly difficult to avoid the alt life ex-girlfriend who is determined that they belong together. It would be a lot harder to resist if she wasn't so cute and occasionally brilliant. The guild as a whole is plastering stickers proclaiming "Towerbound is Not Just a Game!" on everything which leads to some real questions about the Historical Society which is adamant that the message be repressed.
Suddenly, building a seemingly useless but very expensive guild hall addition in game changes everything. The game is over. Not even Ren knows exactly what happens next.
