All the main characters are back (at least the ones that are still alive) and Peter V. Brett finally brings his epic story to a conclusion. Sharak Ka is nigh and it is time to find out if humanity has what it takes to survive the threat. Despite the many advances in warding skills and demon fighting techniques that have occurred since the series started, mankind still remains ill prepared for what is coming. The Krasians and Thesans must put aside their differences if they are to survive until dawn. Whether you believe in the Creator, Everam, or neither, it matters not as the demons are ready to swarm and every living person must do their part or be prepared to walk the lonely path.

I must admit I knew little about this series when it started but it quickly grabbed me and kept me entertained until the very end. The Demon Cycle earns it place as an excellent fantasy series that should not be missed and it ends well by building to a crescendo and then properly wrapping up all the individual character story lines. I eagerly anticipated this final book in the series and it did not disappoint. This series will make a great movie or TV show one day and I hope that someone who can back it with the proper talent and funding decides to make it happen.

For audiobook fans Pete Bradbury does a great job with the whole series and really brings the characters and world to life. If the five main books are not enough for you there are also 3 novellas available: Brayan's Gold, The Great Bazaar, and Messenger's Legacy, all of which take place early in the series timeline. This leads me to my only gripe with the final book. Peter V. Brett decided to include characters and events from the novellas into this finale which almost makes them required reading. Usually such novellas are optional and it is disconcerting for someone like me, who did not read the novellas, to encounter certain characters they do not recognize. A minor quibble that should not deter you in any way from experiencing this excellent story.
