Jonas is an experienced assassin who was taught the trade by his parents, who are recently deceased having driven their RV off a cliff. Jonas knows that it likely wasn't an accident, but he is not able to come up with any leads as to who might have killed them. That fact puts revenge out of reach for the moment, so he continues his life pulling off elaborate kill jobs, each one more ostentatious than the one before. Jonas is a special kind of assassin, he kills with his mind by telekinetically creating a hole in the brain of his victims. But even with all his power and money, he is depressed and his personal Artificial Intelligence knows it. So the A.I. schemes to bring a young woman named Maddie into his life, and then things really start to spiral out of control.

This book never takes itself too seriously, and the sarcastic A.I. with a Texas accent always keeps things entertaining. The story moves from one action packed encounter to the next, and each step of the way we learn a little more about Jonas. The fact that he doesn't remember his childhood, his mysterious telekinetic abilities, and that Maddie isn't exactly who she claims to be all set things up for an excellent story of self discovery. That is until it all starts to escalate beyond the realm of interesting, and into the realm of "what the heck am I reading?" Now maybe it is just me because Goodreads has a lot of really positive reviews for this and Audible is even higher, but I started to lose interest in this one before it was over. The characters were shallow, the plot went off the rails, and the sarcastic A.I wasn't enough to save the day. So pick this one up at your own risk.

R.C. Bray narrated the audiobook version and his performance was excellent as usual.
