There's a lot happening in this installment of The Wandering Inn. A blind [Emperor] is forced to embrace his new class, Rags faces big decisions as Chieftain, and Erin adopts an orphaned Gnoll as well as five hobgoblins. Absolutely no one but Erin is happy about five hobgoblins in proximity to Liscor, including the hobs themselves. Pawn has an existential crisis, discovers religion and becomes an [Acolyte] but there's a very good reason that [Priests] no longer exist. There's never a dull moment in Liscor and with adventurers blundering around in its dungeon things are about to get more exciting than the residents would like!
At the Inn itself Erin is finally back and surprised to find out Lyonette is not only still alive but actually running the Inn. Unfortunately, Erin fails to notice that Lyonette has matured and continues to treat her as a spoiled brat which doesn't make anyone happy. Ryoka brought the orphaned gnoll cub Mrsha to her people in Liscor but as the sole survivor from her tribe her fur in now white and the gnolls' superstitions call her a doombringer. At least Ryoka and Erin think its only superstition but they've only been in this world six months so who knows? The five remaining goblins sent by Garen to kill the "human innkeeper' are evolving into hobgoblins after the events at Esthelm but without knowing where their tribe is they are persuaded to accept Erin's offer of a free meal.
Laken may be blind but he still notices that the scents and sounds around him have suddenly changed when he finds himself teleported from Earth. His meeting with the half-troll Doreen has the air of a simple Beauty and the Beast romance until she explains the class system and asks what he might choose. Laken decides to follow the example of Emperor Norton, self-proclaimed emperor of The United States, and proclaims himself Emperor of the Unseen Empire. He wakes up the next morning an [Emperor] even if all he rules is Doreen's shack. A threat to the local village forces him to decide if he wants to tell others about his class. It's a given that the human nobility are not going to be happy.
Garen Redfang surrendered to Rags as Chieftain but it's clear that he still believes he's in charge and just using her to see to the needs of the tribe. He takes them north to the home of the [Great Chieftain] Tremborag. He has an enormous tribe that lives inside a mountain and survives by preying on human towns. Tremborag and his hobs not only live like humans, they also keep human women captive for sex. Rags is disgusted by all of it and sees them as not-goblin but isn't sure what to do or who she can trust.
The Antinium that Erin named Pawn has been declared Individual rather than Abomination and is now mostly left to his own devices. The other four Individuals are now two [Tacticians], a [Cook], and a [Hunter]. Pawn is a level two [Tactician] but hasn't gained further levels and feels like a failure. He takes his crisis to Erin who somehow ends up telling him the story of Christianity and Pawn is inspired by the idea of Heaven. Gaining the [Acolyte] class almost gets him executed but does lead to revelations about Antinium history that may impact the wider world. Unfortunately, Pawn still has no idea what an [Acolyte] should be doing and his first attempts at explaining what Erin told him go horribly wrong but there's something more to it than he first thought.
Almost everyone has forgotten about the [Skeleton Warrior] Toren. He can't survive without Erin and the mana she produces but luckily he fell into a hole that dropped him into the dungeon and dungeons produce their own mana which is why they attract monsters in the first place. It's dark, dismal, and full of traps in addition to the other monsters but Toren has ultravision and the monsters leave him alone for the most part. He takes the gear from an adventurer's body and with a cloak over his head the next group of adventurers he meets mistakes him for an adventurer himself. He could help them or he could lead them into a trap.....hmmm.
So what happens when a silver ranked adventuring team in a gold ranked vengeance dungeon, being led by a skeleton in disguise, decides to destroy some random monster eggs? It's epic!
